Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring product quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements are maintained for all products manufactured through maintaining operational standards, process adherence, and adherence to all SOP’s during daily production. The position monitors and audits the quality of incoming raw materials, in-process material, and finished products. The Quality Technician is a primary resource for guidance and support for all plant team members with regards to quality parameters, product requirements, technical support through testing and auditing process documentation, data collection, and analysis, and regulatory/food safety concerns. Quality Technicians are expected to lead by example by helping ensure all team members are GMP compliant, conducting floor walkthroughs and coaching others on Food Safety and Quality related matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as main liaison to your assigned shift to Review Food Safety Forms and Regulations, support team training, Food Safety and Regulatory Audits
- Inspect incoming raw materials for gross defects and perform required analytical/physical testing per the specification. Compare incoming ingredients to the certificate of analysis (COA). Enter all data into electronic database.
- Evaluate in-process and finished product on a regular basis and perform the required analytical/physical testing per the specification and plant requirements.
- Issue hold orders for out-of-specification product. Manage the hold process to maintain control of the product. Ensure proper disposition and timely resolution of all hold orders for finished product, ingredients, or packaging material.
- Conduct equipment inspection during shutdown or changeover sanitation to ensure equipment is clean and ready for the next production run.
Education and Experience Desired:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 1-3 years' experience in food manufacturing or quality/analytical lab
- 2 or 4 year degree in related field (Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Engineering)
- Previous food manufacturing experience is preferred
