The QTI Group is partnering with a growing food packaging company specializing in cheese and related products to hire an EHS Specialist. This is a brand-new position created as part of the company’s OSHA abatement plan following a recent audit, and it presents an exciting opportunity to build the safety program from the ground up. While the company has a safety committee in place, this will be the first dedicated EHS role—ideal for someone who is experienced, proactive, and ready to lead safety initiatives from scratch.

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental compliance programs, driving a culture of safety, and ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements. This is a high-impact position with strong leadership visibility and long-term growth potential.

This is a full-time, on-site role with a flexible first-shift schedule during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Compensation starts at $70k/year with an additional 10% bonus paid quarterly and at year-end.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement EHS programs and documentation, including OSHA-mandated elements such as HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and Emergency Action Plans.
  • Lead and document safety inspections, job safety analyses, and hazard assessments.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Oversee environmental compliance, including waste disposal, stormwater, and chemical storage.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and ensure training compliance.
  • Serve as the primary contact for OSHA inspections and audits.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety initiatives.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through training and engagement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; or a CSP/CIH certification (required).
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, food production, or related environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, conduct root cause analysis, and implement improvements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with safety management systems.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish and OSHA 30-hour certification a plus.
